Note all of the sediment in the foreground. This particular grate is an Ohio DOT #4, which is a 64”x39” V-Grate. Tennessee DOT Approves the SedJacket for Pipe Inlet Protection

The Tennessee DOT recently put the SedJacket on the Department’s Qualified Products List. The SedJacket has been approved as an alternate product to Standard Drawing EC-STR-11 for culvert protection on 10”, 12”, 15”, 18” 21” and 24” culverts. Users of the SedJacket will enjoy lower costs than the gravel method both in initial installation and restoration costs. James Schwieterman, an intern with the Ohio EPA, was impressed with the durability of the SedCage. A heavy storm sent rocks and gravel down a steep swale toward a yard inlet that was protected by a SedCage. The SedCage stood up to the challenge. James did not think casino that any other devices or methods would have survived the storm.
