The Tennessee DOT recently put the SedJacket on the Department’s Qualified Products List. The SedJacket has been approved as an alternate product to Standard Drawing EC-STR-11 for culvert protection on 10”, 12”, 15”, 18” 21” and 24” culverts. Users of the SedJacket will enjoy lower costs than the gravel method both in initial installation and restoration costs.
The Department does not maintain an approved list for this Standard Drawing, but the SedJacket will be added to the Department’s Qualified Products List under “Miscellaneous”. SedJackets have the added advantage of allowing the ditch to drain completely between rains, allowing grass to grow in the bottom of the channel.
